In 7 days...

The Seoul Summer Olympics will be 25 years old.

That means I will turn 25 also.  It's a nice full circle event in my life.  I was born on the opening ceremonies of the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul.  Tennis was reintroduced as one of the medal sports.  Twenty-five years later, here we are... I'm a huge tennis AND K-pop fan.  I've played some tennis and speak some Korean now.  Growing up, I was never into sports but I found myself watching tennis for hours.  I dabbled into so many languages but I've stayed longest with Korean.  So you see, I may be reading too much into this but if you believe in signs... this is it.

So what have I done in my 25 years?  A lot and not that much.  I believe I've lived a fun life so far.  By no means an easy one.  I've experienced so many things that we're so beyond my wildest imaginations.  Things so unexpected, I had trouble believing them myself.  I moved halfway around the world.  I've traveled across the continental United States BY ROAD... twice... all by myself.  I met so many people - okay, celebrities - that I would never even dreamed of seeing in person.  I met friends whom I truly enjoy.

But I still want more out of my life.  Those things may be fun, slightly trivial... still fun.  And yet I feel that I this can't be it.  I have an okay job and all that but where I am right now... I'm not satisfied.  I feel like this is just something to tide me over until I find something better or "my ideal".  I'm not getting any younger and I don't know how much longer these opportunities will stick around (not that there is very many to begin with lol).

I want to do so much more and while there are more limitations than opportunities, I'll get there somewhere.  A dreamer is bound to see reality one of these days.

So when I see you back here next Tuesday, I've been on this good earth for 25 years.  I hope I have more than 25 more left in this tank.  There's so much world to see!

Busy Friday Night

This is my Friday night.  How's yours?

I honestly love this DirecTV iPad app.  I can watch TV without a TV.  And it's especially awesome this grand slam tennis season.  I can watch reruns and live matches.  Over the long weekend, it's all I watched.  Okay, and maybe a few hours of  Criminal Minds while I was at it.  I mean, they replayed a Nadal match 4 times.  I love Rafa but c'mon... ;-)

And after two weeks, my Saturday Korean classes are finally back on schedule.  I missed it so much.  I'm doing pretty well and it excites me.  I wish I can build up my vocabulary faster though.  ^^

Anyhoo, just checking in.  How's your Friday night?

40LOVE

I love this.

I was watching a WTA match rerun before the 2013 Roland Garros and look!  The score is 40-0, beside the 40♥.  So cute!

During Grand Slam season, good luck having a non-tennis conversation with me.  Or you might not see me watching anything else but tennis.  I don't care if it's a replay, if it's tennis... I'm watching it.

Roland Garros and Wimbledon... it's going to wreck my emotions these coming weeks.

2013 Australian Open

I haven't been talking about it a whole lot here but I am quite a tennis fan.  Actually, I'm a HUGE tennis fan.  I don't think I watch any other sport as closely (and willingly).  Up to the point of losing sleep because I'm watching live radio/video coverage, especially if my favorite player is on court.  Yes, I do play some. And of course, I have merch.

I can be pretty passionate about tennis.  I mean, when Roger Federer lost to Rafael Nadal in that epic 2008 Gentlemen's Final... I not only cried... but I also skipped class the next day.  I did not go to school because I felt so bad.  But read: Roger and Rafa are BOTH my favorite-est tennis players ever.  It breaks my heart to see them play against each other.  But my heart breaks a bit more whenever Roger loses.  I dislike Novak Djokovic but I think he's okay.  I don't particularly like watching his matches but alas, he's a top player and top players get priority in media coverage.  Apart from the retired Andy Roddick, Pete Sampras, Andre Agassi, and the Williams sisters, I am not a fan of American tennis.  I am a fan of the Spaniards in the ATP tour though.  Feliciano Lopez can suck so bad sometimes but I don't care.  XD

So now, the 2013 Australian Open starts.  I am currently listening to the Djokovic/Mathieu match over on AO Radio.  I do like the radio coverage; it leaves me space to work on other things while being updated on the action.  As if I don't already have so much on my plate... 한국어 lessons, joining a KPOP site, reading, writing some, Kenshin, and blogging... ah, can someone be more overwhelmed?

It'll be two weeks of tennis starting today!  Ready?  Play!

PS: Happy birthday, Orlando Bloom!

Outfit of the Day (20130109)

My mom and I went out and saw Les Miserables today.  Matinee, $9.  XD  Will talk about that later.

I rocked an all-day Korean slightly messy bun.  And my new favorite, orange lipsticks.  Orange is my favorite color anyway.  It's about time that I try it on my face for a pop of color.  I know it's winter but hey, it worked.

Those cute tennis ball earrings are from What It Takes [dot] org, Serena Williams design.  I have a necklace from the collection and the watch, which I also wore today.  Other celebrities contributed other artwork as well but because a part of my heart belongs to tennis, I got Serena's stuff.

As for the rest of my outfit for today...

My bag is at least 6lbs.

I know.  I weighed it.  Last time I checked, it was 6.2lbs not counting the books I currently bring with me. Clash of Kings alone is 1.2lbs.  One my way home today, I bought A Storm of Swords and that is an extra pound or so.  I was carrying almost 10lbs (I had my lunch box and other items too) on my person.  Man, the walk from the train station to the house was painful.  And in this humidity?  Unforgiving.

What is it with women and their bags?  Personally, I can't survive on a small bag.  Even my makeup bag is rather big.  Then there are the random pieces of paper, receipts, Post-Its, notepads, pens, candy, gum, hair stuff, granola bars, movie tickets... I mean, my bag is heavier than when I was a newborn!

I remember something that a security person said at Florida's Cape Canaveral when he inspected my bag.  He hefted my purse over to his station and said, "Man, this is why females are the stronger sex."  I was on vacation but my bag had the whole house in it.  You'll never know when you'll need a mini tripod or 3 colors of lipstick.  I don't remember any of my purses, school bags, or any other bags being small and/or light.

Anyway, the 2012 Summer Olympics will start tomorrow and as official sponsor, Coca-Cola has special cans to celebrate the event.  Yes, a soda for a sporting event.

Tennis cans
Tennis.  It's like Wimbledon Part 2 because they're doing the event at SW19.  I hope it'll have the same result.  I know Roger Federer won the doubles gold with Stanislas Wawrinka last Olympics but it would be so nice for him to get a Singles gold.  And Olympic tennis is so intense and this is where the term "upset" rings true.  Players who usually meet during quarterfinals or finals meet on the first round.  This is them playing for their country and not just for themselves.  It's all so exciting!

Today's song of the day is from Spotify's front page.  I'm putting this here so I can remind myself to download this song: My Oh My by Tristan Prettyman.

Kisses,
