Flashback Friday: Valentine's Day

Last year, I spent Valentine's Day with Simon Baker from The Mentalist.  He got his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.  I also saw Robin Tunney and Naomi Watts.  It was a good day.

Live Long and Prosper

Before you guys freak out, this photo was taken 2-3 years ago in front of the Helen Hayes theater in NYC.  I was with a couple of friends after watching American Idiot.  Look, Enron was still playing! We were on our way to the trains when suddenly... we literally bumped into Zachary Quinto and Jesse Tyler Ferguson.

Shame on me, this Hollywood girl didn't know what Modern Family was back then but I definitely knew Star Trek and Heroes.  Not to mention Six Feet Under.  Mr. Ferguson was kind enough to take my photo with Mr. Quinto.  No joke.  He really took this picture!

I haven't seen the new Star Trek film yet nor have I read any reviews.  I'll get to that eventually.  Right now, I'm really immersed in Dan Brown's new book, Inferno.

PS: On that same night, we also met Jonathan Groff.  I think it was literally five minutes after this photo was taken.  ^^

Justin

I was walking around Ralphs this afternoon after work.  As you know, grocery stores are my favorite.  And my Ralphs plays the most random music.  From Ingrid Michaelson to Bon Jovi to The Backstreet Boys to Carly Rae Jepsen.  It plays everything that doesn't have a curse word in it.  That time, Tearin' Up My Heart was playing.  So I was browsing the milk aisle when this girl, around 8-10 years old was putting something in her mom's cart.  And then she went, "What song is playing?  Doesn't sound like Bieber at all so what is it?"

Bieber?  BIEBER?!

You got the wrong Justin, kid.  Gone are the days when you say "Justin" and immediately think "Timberlake".  That kind of pop music is gone too.  I mean, it's not the best but come on... don't tell me you don't know the words to Bye Bye Bye.  ;-)

Another place that plays anything under the sun - curse word or no - is my work place.  Specifically, my co-worker who sits beside my desk.  He's the one I have to blamethank for getting me into KPop.  I heard my first BIGBANG song (after so many years) from his PC.  I realized that f(x) has songs other than that awful La Cha Ta atrocity.  I still don't like SNSD that much but hey, he likes it and I'm mostly okay with their stuff.  Anyway, it was such a slow ass day.  I just could not wait for the day to end.  I was pretty much done by 11:30AM.  A-M.  It's pretty much shooting the shit afterward.  Speaking of which, I still have to think of how to ask for a month off.  Sigh... if only my bosses are easy to reason with.

At least after work, my folks and I went to The Ice House Comedy Club.  As tired and sleepy as I was, I needed that.  I'm not the biggest fan of comedy films but I like stand up comedy a lot.  It was fun.  It was a small crowd but the laughs were there.  But it wasn't the stand up that I enjoyed.  It was the drinks!  Man, that Purple Tea (vodka, rum, raspberry liqueur, sweet & sour, sprite)!  I wanted more of that.  They didn't have raspberry Stoli so I settled for regular vodka and sprite.  So yeah, pretty much all I drank tonight were vodka and sprite.  And yes, a sip of two of my mom's Irish creme coffee.  I still am pretty tippy-tipsy but that's when I'm more talkative.  XD  I'm just concentrating all that harder so that I can type this all out properly.  Hehehe...

It's Friday.

I just had to survive today's work day.  It was same old-same old but ended with a rather nice surprise.  After finding out that we are not paid for the Monday-Tuesday no work day, our bosses decided to give us those two days anyway.  Not without mindless arguing.  But still, it's a good thing.  They may have a heart after all.

I don't get paid today; next week, I do.  But I already planned out my spending.  Since the announcement of the BigBang ticket sale tomorrow, I realized that if I score VIP tickets, that will take up most, if not all, my paycheck for this week.  With the extra two days, it leaves me extra for the new boots I'm eying!  Yays all over.

Speaking of the ticket sale, I have a problem.  The tickets will be released 10AM PST for the Los Angeles concert.  I am meeting my cousin at the airport at 8:30AM and we will most likely have breakfast.  Would LAX have free wifi?  Would the restaurant we'll go to have wifi also?  I might have to resort to ordering via an iPhone 3G... which will not be as fast as a home computer.  :"(  All the talk about tickets selling out in minutes and hours in Hong Kong and Indonesia... it's giving me major anxiety.  Nevermind getting VIP tickets.  What if I don't get a ticket at all?!  UNACCEPTABLE.

Don't get me wrong, I would love to see my cousin so much!  I mean, it's been 3 years since we last saw each other.  And I am so immensely proud of her (she's the first female oceanographer in the Philippines and she, with her other colleagues, were summoned by NASA to present a study in Louisiana).  This whole ticket thing is just stressing me out.  It's not like with 2NE1 where I got my tickets two days before the show.  It did sell out, yeah.  But on the day of the show.  BigBang is a different level.

For flashback Friday, remember Baby All Gone?  I had one of those when I was younger.  My parents went on a trip to Hong Kong and when they got back, they got me a Baby All Gone.  I can remember the smell of the "strawberry jam".  I was afraid of sniffing it so much; I thought the scent would fade away.  Eventually it did but I think it was because of age instead of excessive sniffage.  I was also fascinated, in my very young mind, with the milk bottle.  Where does the milk go?  How does it fill up again?  ^^,

Growing up, I wasn't much into Barbies and other inanimate toys.  But I did love my Baby All Gone!

C'est la vie!

Just a quick Flashback Friday entry...

Do you ever come across a song that you used to love but haven't heard in years?  And when you randomly hear it again, you start singing along, and then you realize... hmm, I still know ALL the words!  I've had that happen to me many times but just recently, it's with this song.

Na-na-na-heeey... na-na-na-hoo...

I swear to you.  I still know all the words to this song.  During my boyband phase, there was a sub-category that I also fell into and that was Irish Pop.  When I got obsessed with Westlife, I also got into their predecessors, Boyzone.  Boyzone member Shane Lynch has twin sisters who were also in the music business and they were in this girl band called B*Witched.   I dug the Irish-y sound so I ate all of that up.  My favorite B*Witched song is Blame It on the Weatherman but C'est La Vie is special.

(Not to mention it is one of the biggest double meaning songs ever lol.  The first one being 2 Become 1.  And to think little kids used to sing this hahaha...)

Eight Glasses of Water

They say in Health class that it is recommended to drink at least 8 glasses of water everyday.  Today, I think I drank at least 25 during the last five hours of work alone.  It was so hot, my heart was palpitating.  Even with our personal electric fans, it was so hot.  The wind was hot.  You can feel the heat seeping from the concrete.  I felt all icky.

Speaking of hot places, The Bourne Legacy are in theaters today.  And it's partly filmed in my beloved city... Manila, Philippines.  I think most people think of the Philippines as this exotic island paradise.  And it is, don't get me wrong.  But I prefer the dirty, noisy, and gritty concrete jungle.  City life is for me.  And having grown up in that hustle and bustle, I cannot wait to see those scenes in the movie.  Plus, Jeremy Renner.  Hello!

I remember how bitter I was when I found out that The Bourne Legacy will film in the Philippines and I wasn't there.  These were my exact words, "Imagine how many classes I'll skip just to see Renner!"  Dude, I was so bummed.  Little did I know that a few months after that, I will share breathing space with my man Jeremy at the world premiere of The Avengers.

My photo.  My man.

The product of standing and waiting for almost 6 hours (so I’ll be damned if any of you take this without credit). Jeremy Renner is one hot man.  MAN.  Not boy.  I remember seeing him in random movies but I always knew who he was.  I intended to watch North Country for Sean Bean but who else is in that movie?  Jeremy.  I'm telling y'all, I very rarely lose my shit but ask my brother, I totally lost all sense of sanity when I met Jeremy Renner.

In that very brief time he spent in front of me at the fan line, I managed to ask him how he liked the Philippines.  (Yes, I had fourth of a brain to form actual respectable and coherent questions.)  He said, "Oh I loved it.  Beautiful country.  Beautiful people."  Right there, my brain melted and all I could do was flail; all the while my finger was on the shutter button.

Can you tell I'm a fan?  If not, I am.  Jeremy Renner is officially in my special list of "Celebrities that render me speechless".

For Flashback Fridays, I'll bring you my favorite radio station in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas... K-ROSE.

My brother and I played the heck out of this game.  Even after we finished the challenges, we still played it.  And every time we're near a radio, we turn it to K-ROSE automatically.  My favorite cuts are Three Cigarettes in the Ashtray (I actually have this memorized), Crazy (honest to goodness, one of my favorite country songs), and The Letter that Johnny Walker Read.  These songs and a couple others have a special place in my iPod.
