Blue lashes, I mean.
Earlier this week, I picked up colored mascara. I've always wanted to try colored mascara. I'm pretty proud of my lashes; they're long and lush (with the right product and application) and they complete any look I may have that day. I've tried so many lengthening, volumizing, defining, lash growing, waterproof, and clear mascaras that I decided to just go for the colored ones.

Ah, blue. I've done my research, of course, and a lot say that blue works well with brown eyes. I personally do not like blue eyeshadow but I like dark blue eyeliner. Some suggested using a blue mascara as a top coat over the black but that didn't make sense to me. I tried that, laying the color over the black mascara I already had on, and it didn't show up at all.
The star of the show is this:
Orange is my favorite color. And I've been a bit orange-obsessed lately. Specifically with orange makeup. Most of my recent lip color purchases are in that color family. According to Pantone, I'm a whole year/season late but whatever. Those color "trends" are essentially the same every year - nudes, reds, brights, neons... it has been like that for years. But orange has always been that statement color. And I love it!
So I went on a little orange frenzy haulin' at both Target and Ulta after 한국어 class today. Speaking of that, it was extra fun today. We "studied" songs. I chose and 여자 이니 까 by 키스 and 그 남자 by 백지영 from the K-Drama Secret Garden. Man, K-Pop has pretty sad as hell songs. These two are prime examples. It brings me so much joy to be able to actually read these lyrics in 한굴 and not just rely on the Romanized lyrics. I'll be able to understand them eventually. Fighting!
Anyway, it was crazy cold last night and today so my OOTD is not that fancy. (Btw, sending warmth and love to y'all East Coasters! Stay safe!) But I did have my kitty hat!

To round up this sort of Skinfood week, I saved the cutest for last.
The lovely ladies at the Skinfood boutique told me that all purchases from their "Eva Armisen wall" comes with a free umbrella. As I mentioned before, I already decided to pick up an orange lip plumper that costs $11. I looked at the other Vita Tok lipsticks and decided to skip it because of the $16.60 price tag. But Eva Armisen for Skinfood is limited edition. When I tried it, I did like the shades. And the free umbrella sweetened the deal. So I dropped the lip plumper and went with this one.
There are two lipstick shades in the line, or at least in the store. #1 Eva Pink and #2 Eva Peach. Even though I'm in my orange lipstick phase, I went with the pink one because it was more pigmented and I was attracted to that more than to the peach shade.
Isn't this just the most adorable packaging? It's one of those products where instead of tossing out the box, you keep it because it's so cute. On both the box and the tube cap, you can see Eva Armisen's precious artwork. 정말 귀여워요!
Continuing with the Skinfood week, we have the lipstick that I picked with the help of my mom. I tend to short circuit when presented a wide range of lipstick colors. I want to try them all, swatch them all, and eventually... buy them all. The back of my right hand would look like a girly rainbow at any time I stopped by an Etude House stall or boutique from all the swatches I made. I just couldn't make the decision which color/s to buy!
The same thing happened with me at Skinfood. I went in to look at the oranges but walked away with a peachy-pink color. I wasn't liking the orange in the line. Maybe because of the buttery texture the formula has that it came across as sheer. It took a couple of swipes for opacity. Then I had to choose between this color and a beige-y nude. My mom voted for this so here we are.
I am in love with Korean cosmetics. I think even if I'm not into the whole Hallyu wave, chances are I would still be into Asian makeup. After all, my first ever favorite blush is from Canmake, a Japanese brand. Etude House became my first obsession. Now that I have a Skinfood nearby, let's see what they have to offer.
First up, we have the Tomato Smoothy Tint in #1 Red Tomato. My first lip tint. Yay! The packaging is not as cute as Etude House's. It came in a pastel orange-y tube with cute little tomatoes printed on the body. It only had a clear perforated plastic cover with stickers of the ingredient list. Here it is beside a MAC lipglass for comparison:
I don't know what it is with Korean products, especially the cosmetics. These clearly have names in English. Skinfood is in English. But it is also "hangul-ized". Now, you might think that the product name is not on the tube itself. I thought that when I was at the store. It is on the plastic covering, which you remove to use the product. But the name is there... in Hangul.
On the top is the plastic covering with the sticker. On the bottom is one side of the tube itself. Notice that it is all in Hangul. If you don't know how to read Hangul, it'll be easy to miss. A few weeks ago, I would've missed it myself. But now... I can read it! Basically, what it says is "Skinfood Tomato Smoothy Tint [ No.1 Red Tomato ]". To-ma-to. ^o^
On the side note, I have a love/hate relationship with "hangul-ized" English words. I get excited when I see Hangul letters in signs or menus or products like this and I try to read them for practice. Sure, I have no idea what they mean half the time but I treat it as reading practice and to try to increase my reading speed. Only to realize that they're essentially English words spelled in Hangul. 아이고! But I'm more amused than annoyed. I do actually love it. A tad bit frustrating but I love it.
Back to the makeup... ㅋㅋㅋ
It was a fun and productive day at Korean language class yesterday. Well, yesterday was pretty eventful anyway. And I must say, I looked cute!
